Town Centre being opened up to traffic

This information is in the evening times please follow the link at the bottom of the page to read the full article.

CARS are to be offered better access to Paisley town centre after more than 10 years of campaigning by struggling shop owners.

Roads surrounding the High Street, which have been limited to buses and taxis for years, will be opened up as part of an action plan to attract more shoppers.

The proposals follow an 11-year battle to reopen the heart of the town to all traffic after key through-routes were turned into one-way roads and bus lanes when the High Street was pedestrianised in 1997.

Studies show that Braehead, with its free parking, has contributed to a 50% sales slump in recent years.

Lloyds TSB is a joke

What a joke Lloyds TSB is on Paisley high street, I cant believe some of these people are in charge of our money.

We have been trying to setup a bank account with them for the Paisley website just basically a club bank account which gives you the very basic of banking facilities "enough for us to apply for funding" however our secretary and one of our committee members went down to apply for the account yesterday and had all the correct information that was to show their identity "I checked the forms too" and some woman in Lloyds TSb said that it was insufficient, now let me tell you she actually had three or four more items that were insufficient "not according the the guidelines they weren't" so our committee member was told to bring another form of ID back with her the next day.

On returning the next day "this morning" she was told that that said form of ID was not acceptable.

I am raging at them, if any other company's organisations, Charity's, clubs individuals please do not setup an account with Lloyds TSB you will have nothing but hassle with them.. Support Paisley on the web and go to somewhere else the Royal Bank of Scotland or something somebody who actually you can get through to and speak to.. This is what we should have done first...

Take heed Lloyds TSB we wont put up with your nonsense..

Radar National Disability Key Scheme

As promised here is the information regarding the RADAR national key scheme for toilets that use the key i.e The Paisley Centre..

the web address is www.radar.org.uk

The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers independent access to disabled people to around 7,000 locked public toilets aronud the country. RADAR would like all providers of accessible toilets to keep their toilets unlocked if at all possible. The NKS is suggested for use only if the provider concerned has to keep the toilets locked to stop vandalism and misuse.

Also more information on services can be found at www.accesspaisley.org.uk

New Advertiser

We have a couple of new advertisers on the Paisley website, also you will see some branded advertisers that are on the pages, we have always tried not to put advertising on the pages but we need to in order to fund future development as we cant rely on donations which have been most welcome and gratefully accepted and they have so far paid for more or less everything you see on the pages..

We would like to introduce 1500photography.com you will see them advertise on some sections including the contact section, maps etc

1500 Photography are based in the West of Scotland, 1500 Photography cover weddings and portraits all over Scotland. 1500 Photography - Stunning images as standard.

I would recommend them as I have seen a lot of their work and it is amazing as well as the person behind the company winning some major photography awards, they cover a lot of areas and famous buildings including Weddings at Cameron House Hotel, Paisley Abbey, and lots of other locations around Scotland..

If you contact 1500 Photography say you seen the ad in the Paisley website and you may get a wee discount...

I wonder what happened there, now the Paisley Distress done a big centre spread on whats wrong with Paisley, Maybe we should be pointing out whats wrong with Paisley? Paisley Centre Car Park

Right this is a right old Rant at the so called Paisley Shopping Centre Car Park.

Today me and my wife went to Paisley to pick something up and then nip to the bank, we were at least fifteen minutes on returning to my car which I had parked in the Paisley Centre Car Park, I put in my ticket and it said £1.20 I though surely not but then looked at the tariff

Time Rate

0 - 2 Hours £1.20
2 - 3 Hours £1.80
3 - 4 Hours £2.50
4 - 5 Hours £3.50
5 - 6 Hours £5.00
6 - 7 hours £6.00

I though that is a terrible price to pay for parking your car in our town surely this cant be right, what happened to 60p or 50p for the first hour, this is a total rip off and should be rectified.

I also was approached by a wee elderly couple who had parked up and they said could you tell me where the door is to the Paisley Shopping Centre, I said well there isn't one you have to go outside and walk down the road towards New Street then turn right and then left at Cafe Borgia "now where is the signposts???" I should have said to them oh by the way your paying for the pleasure of parking in a shopping centres car park whilst it isn't actually part of a shopping centre.

Also on the same rant at the Paisley Shopping Centre, I was at the loo and came outside where a couple a wee woman pushing her disabled husband in a wheelchair asked me where the Car Park was "bizarre" and do you know why, now please remember we are in the middle of the shopping centre at the disabled toilets and a sign says please pick up a key fob from the Access Paisley offices situated in the Paisley Shopping Centre Car Park... THAT IS BLOODY TERRIBLE IN MY BOOK,

Welcome to Paisley where we will charge you a fortune to park, make you walk to our shopping centre but please if you need to use our disabled toilet come back and get the key its only a ten minute round trip "maybe longer if your disabled"

I have also recently written to the Paisley Centre shopping centre and will forward this to them as well to see if they can comment.

Update from Linwood sucks website

This is from Linwood sucks newsletter thought it might be of interest for our readers..

Short notice however....
I have just become aware that while Alex Salmond is in Paisley at 11.00am tomorrow, 5th Feb, opening the new Council office, a number of local groups are intending to demonstrate at the building. If anyone is interested then you know where to go.

Linwood Sucks video channel

Also I realise some of you may not have noticed the Linwood Sucks video channel on youtube. There are various video logs on there which may become more useful after the shopping centre has been demolished however there is also a 3 part "interview" on the subject of illegal activity at the landfill and associated amenities. As usual please feel free to voice your opinions on the message board.

Update your Internet Browser

To get the best possible results when visiting many websites these days including Paisley on the web, you will have to update your browser to something which meets todays standards, it doesnt matter how old your computer is you can still upgrade your browser for free..

Now my favourite browser isnt Internet Explorer as I find this is prone to spyware and bugs and not to mention as slow as a week in Barlinie "not that I have ever been there"

To install Firefox browser go to www.mozilla.com and click for the free download, it takes a bit of getting used to but it is honestly a far superior browser.

Or you could update your tired old Internet explorer to Internet explorer 7, the download isnt that big and it is well worth it.

To download the new update go to www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/ie/downloads/ or click the link.

Why not do it now it will only take five minutes of your time.

New Front Page

Thats the new frontpage kind of finished, I still hopefully have to add some advertising from local business's in Paisley, we are going out this week to start delivering leaflets to librarys, business, community groups etc "if you are part of a group why not invite me up for a brew - lol chancing my arm here"

If you are looking at the frontpage and can only see one column or cant see the video let me know if your using internet explorer and if its an old or new computer so I can try and see what the problem may be..

Thanks again...

The Weather

The weather in Paisley has been mental for the last week or so, well maybe even longer than that, whats new says you? Well the wind iver the last few years has been getting considerably worse every year and lasting longer and its strong very strong. I just wonder how bad it will get in coming years and how long it will be before there is 100mph winds gusting over our heads during winter, it will cost local councils an absolute fortune "which will be passed in to us" is it all part of global warming? well its got to be something.

I think I will make a wee section on the website which urges us to recylce more and what we can do for our environment.

New Look Frontpage

As you can now see I have uploaded the new front page for paisley.org.uk this page will evolve over the coming weeks to include ads and video.

As you can see at the moment we have updated content from various parts of the website, Updated Forum section, Updated Blog section, Updated photo's and latest news from the Unofficial St Mirren Website. All creating dynamic updated content on a daily basis.

No longer will the front page just be a welcoming page and remain largely static, the front page will update several times during the day so It would be a great idea to make this your homepage, I have added a google search so that you don't have to go elsewhere to make web searches.

If you have any ideas you would like to see on the front page please drop me a line and let me know.. I hope that you enjoy the changes so far.

Website Glitch

The website is back up and running, it must have been the server space being updated as promised from our hosting providers, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I thought at first I had done something as I am creating the new page for the homepage if you want a sneaky peak check out http://www.paisley.org.uk/index1.php its a work in progress.

If you would loike to comment on the page please feel free.
