Town Centre being opened up to traffic
CARS are to be offered better access to Paisley town centre after more than 10 years of campaigning by struggling shop owners.
Roads surrounding the High Street, which have been limited to buses and taxis for years, will be opened up as part of an action plan to attract more shoppers.
The proposals follow an 11-year battle to reopen the heart of the town to all traffic after key through-routes were turned into one-way roads and bus lanes when the High Street was pedestrianised in 1997.
Studies show that Braehead, with its free parking, has contributed to a 50% sales slump in recent years.

Lloyds TSB is a joke
We have been trying to setup a bank account with them for the Paisley website just basically a club bank account which gives you the very basic of banking facilities "enough for us to apply for funding" however our secretary and one of our committee members went down to apply for the account yesterday and had all the correct information that was to show their identity "I checked the forms too" and some woman in Lloyds TSb said that it was insufficient, now let me tell you she actually had three or four more items that were insufficient "not according the the guidelines they weren't" so our committee member was told to bring another form of ID back with her the next day.
On returning the next day "this morning" she was told that that said form of ID was not acceptable.
I am raging at them, if any other company's organisations, Charity's, clubs individuals please do not setup an account with Lloyds TSB you will have nothing but hassle with them.. Support Paisley on the web and go to somewhere else the Royal Bank of Scotland or something somebody who actually you can get through to and speak to.. This is what we should have done first...
Take heed Lloyds TSB we wont put up with your nonsense..

Radar National Disability Key Scheme
the web address is www.radar.org.uk
The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers independent access to disabled people to around 7,000 locked public toilets aronud the country. RADAR would like all providers of accessible toilets to keep their toilets unlocked if at all possible. The NKS is suggested for use only if the provider concerned has to keep the toilets locked to stop vandalism and misuse.
Also more information on services can be found at www.accesspaisley.org.uk

I wonder what happened there, now the Paisley Distress done a big centre spread on whats wrong with Paisley, Maybe we should be pointing out whats wrong with Paisley? Paisley Centre Car Park
Today me and my wife went to Paisley to pick something up and then nip to the bank, we were at least fifteen minutes on returning to my car which I had parked in the Paisley Centre Car Park, I put in my ticket and it said £1.20 I though surely not but then looked at the tariff
Time Rate
0 - 2 Hours £1.20
2 - 3 Hours £1.80
3 - 4 Hours £2.50
4 - 5 Hours £3.50
5 - 6 Hours £5.00
6 - 7 hours £6.00
I though that is a terrible price to pay for parking your car in our town surely this cant be right, what happened to 60p or 50p for the first hour, this is a total rip off and should be rectified.
I also was approached by a wee elderly couple who had parked up and they said could you tell me where the door is to the Paisley Shopping Centre, I said well there isn't one you have to go outside and walk down the road towards New Street then turn right and then left at Cafe Borgia "now where is the signposts???" I should have said to them oh by the way your paying for the pleasure of parking in a shopping centres car park whilst it isn't actually part of a shopping centre.
Also on the same rant at the Paisley Shopping Centre, I was at the loo and came outside where a couple a wee woman pushing her disabled husband in a wheelchair asked me where the Car Park was "bizarre" and do you know why, now please remember we are in the middle of the shopping centre at the disabled toilets and a sign says please pick up a key fob from the Access Paisley offices situated in the Paisley Shopping Centre Car Park... THAT IS BLOODY TERRIBLE IN MY BOOK,
Welcome to Paisley where we will charge you a fortune to park, make you walk to our shopping centre but please if you need to use our disabled toilet come back and get the key its only a ten minute round trip "maybe longer if your disabled"
I have also recently written to the Paisley Centre shopping centre and will forward this to them as well to see if they can comment.
Update from Linwood sucks website
Short notice however....
I have just become aware that while Alex Salmond is in Paisley at 11.00am tomorrow, 5th Feb, opening the new Council office, a number of local groups are intending to demonstrate at the building. If anyone is interested then you know where to go.
Linwood Sucks video channel
Also I realise some of you may not have noticed the Linwood Sucks video channel on youtube. There are various video logs on there which may become more useful after the shopping centre has been demolished however there is also a 3 part "interview" on the subject of illegal activity at the landfill and associated amenities. As usual please feel free to voice your opinions on the message board.

Update your Internet Browser
Now my favourite browser isnt Internet Explorer as I find this is prone to spyware and bugs and not to mention as slow as a week in Barlinie "not that I have ever been there"
To install Firefox browser go to www.mozilla.com and click for the free download, it takes a bit of getting used to but it is honestly a far superior browser.
Or you could update your tired old Internet explorer to Internet explorer 7, the download isnt that big and it is well worth it.
To download the new update go to www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/ie/downloads/ or click the link.
Why not do it now it will only take five minutes of your time.
New Front Page
If you are looking at the frontpage and can only see one column or cant see the video let me know if your using internet explorer and if its an old or new computer so I can try and see what the problem may be..
Thanks again...

New Look Frontpage
As you can see at the moment we have updated content from various parts of the website, Updated Forum section, Updated Blog section, Updated photo's and latest news from the Unofficial St Mirren Website. All creating dynamic updated content on a daily basis.
No longer will the front page just be a welcoming page and remain largely static, the front page will update several times during the day so It would be a great idea to make this your homepage, I have added a google search so that you don't have to go elsewhere to make web searches.
If you have any ideas you would like to see on the front page please drop me a line and let me know.. I hope that you enjoy the changes so far.

Roof Update 31st Jan
However they go on to say that they have been very busy "and quoted my blog, so blogs can get their attention" and said that they could see there was significant damage and that they would need the scaffolders to erect the structure before they can fix the damage, but listen to this the target date is the 4th March thats a month away bloody hell.
Last night was bad again, we never used to have it so bad up here until a good few years ago Scottish power removed the trees in front of our house and since then its been hellish each year and the same tiles always come off the roof..
Only one tile came off last night and thats a result as far as Im concerned..
But also just before dinner time "I had written to my local councilor Lorraine Cameron" I had an email from Lorraine Cameron emailing someone in repairs and just conveying how angry I was that no one had come back to me "which they said they would" and on seeing my damage it should be treated as urgent.. so another result, I am Thankfull to Councillor Cameron for her time and reply it is very much appreciated and also shows that if you need something done Blog it and tell everyone about it...

a wee joke
Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school
diploma to fix one.
After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet,"
which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft.
The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and
then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.
Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humour. Here are some
actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas' pilots (marked with a P)
and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.
By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an
accident.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.
P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.
P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.
P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.
P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.
P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.
P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.
P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.
P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.
P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.
P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.
P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.
P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.
P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.
And the best one for last..................
P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding
on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.
Glesga Drunk
---
The Glasgow, or more properly "Glesga", dialect is known to be
extremely concise, as so much can be said in so few words.
Consider for example, this exchange between a car-driver, and the
police officer who pulled him over.
Interpretation is provided inside the brackets.
Police officer: Yaw rite? (Are you feeling ill?)
Driver: 'maw rite. (I'm feeling exceptionally well, thank you)
Yeshoor? (Are you entirely certain of that fact?)
Aye. (Yes)
Zisyoors? (Are you the registered owner of this vehicle?)
Zwitmine? (Which vehicle are you referring to?)
Ris caur (The automobile in which you are presently seated)
Sibrurnlaws (Actually, it belongs to my sister's husband)
Wers heeren? (Can you tell me where he can be located?)
Raboozers. (He is a guest of the local hostelry.)
Yebeen garglin'. (Have you partaken of any alcoholic beverages, in the
recent past?)
Jissa cupple. (I have consumed only one or two small cocktails, prior
to dinner.)
Yur stoatin'. (It is my considered opinion that you are considerably
under the influence of alcohol.)
Naw'mno' (I beg to differ.)
Ye urstoatin'. (I believe that my initial observation is correct and
that you are being somewhat deceitful.)
Umnoe. (I swear that I am being entirely truthful.)
Geezyer licence. (Would you be kind enough to allow me to inspect your
driver’s licence?)
'Vno Goatwan. (I am not in possession of such a document.)
Geroot racaur. (Kindly remove yourself from the automobile.)
Whiffur? (By what legal right do you make this request?)
'Mapolis. (I am a member of the local constabulary.)
Ommigoad. (I call upon the Supreme Being, witness this moment of
extreme duress.)
Geroot Ren. (Will you now please extricate yourself from your position
behind the steering wheel.
Awrite, 'mcomin' (I am proceeding to do so with all possible speed.)
Blawris up. (Are you familiar with the breathalyser test?.)
'Mgonny Besik. (I believe that I am about to be violently ill.)
Noanme Yurno. (Please exercise a great deal of caution as to the
direction your involuntary emission takes.)
'Mawrite Noo. (Having ridden my digestive tract of an accumulation of
nausea-inducing substances, I now feel better.)
Getna Paddywagon. (Please be kind enough to accept a short ride in the
humble vehicle provided for my use by the local police.)
Wer Wigaun? (May I be so forward as to make an enquiry as to our
ultimate destination?)
Ra Jile. (To my headquarters, where you will be incarcerated.)
Ohmigoad, rawife'll murdermie. (Once again I call upon the Supreme
Being to witness this unfortunate turn of events. Incidentally, I must
inform you that my spouse will take my life, illegally.)
Getna Wagon. (May I offer you my assistance in climbing into the back
of my vehicle.)
Aw, Neveragain. Ratsit furme. (I have now learned a valuable lesson,
and I hereby declare total abstinence from all alcoholic beverages
hence forth.)
Website Updates 14th Jan 08
take for instance the gallery, it is now hosted by flickr.com something me and vic had tried to do with another picture host provider www.photobox.co.uk in the past but it didnt seem to work for the site, I think mainly because you couldnt integrate it into the site as much as I would have liked..
So along comes flickr with what is called an api basically I can integrate it into the website and use the functionality of flickr compared to what we have had in the past on the website its night and day.
It means people can sign up for a free acount with flickr and upload their own images once done they can send me their address and I can display their pictures to the buddies amongst us.
Also I have now added the Paisley pub guide to the website, well some of it anyway as I will need to go out and take some images of the pubs "and have a wee shandy or two anyone up for it?" and update all the info on the pages...
The reason for putting it in the paisley.org.uk website will become aparent over the next few months as I am aiming to get as much content into the site as possible and make a "heres hoping" feature rich website that everyone can use and be a part of...
I must thank everyone who currently helps out with the site being answering the enquiries, which can be a thankless task sometime to taking pictures for the site.. your all appreciated...
if anyone would like to join the site to help I am now available to help get you into your role and can be contacted through the main paisley.org.uk website
Paisley Blog
The website has thousands of visitors each day and the website seems to be going from strength to strength each year. This year has seen me "Brian McGuire" redesign the website which basically has been the same for about 4 years or more "shame on me" I will tell you more why this has happened and what are my aims for the future of paisley.org.uk later on in this blog.
Also I bet your asking why the blog why not just put it direct on the website? Well yes I could put it on the website but where?? and also I want to try and get more people to blog about issues surrounding the town, it could be about the lack of quality shops or that the roads have too many potholes.. that is up to you.. I can help you get a blogger account or sign up yourself its free.. www.blogger.com
One thing though, abide by the basic rules of no slander, abuse, racism etc and you shall be placed on the main website and hopefully get someone to listen to you and get something done about your issue.
If you want to join our merry band of volunteers then I would love to hear from you, go to the main paisley website and click contact once you contact us we shall arrange a meeting if appropriate "you might be in New Zealand or somewhere like that, and unless you want to pay for me to come over then we will meet via email "
Well thats the first post out of the way, please come back often for more about some issues regarding either the Paisley website or the town itself.
